Finding the Gown
Now that the wedding is over, I can finally post pictures of the gown search. I was afraid to post it pre-wedding because the hubby might stumble upon my blog sites and ruin the thrill of seeing me in my gown for the first time. He always likes to be surprised.
The first time I tried on a gown was sometime in the end of May 2008. The girls and I went to David's Bridal to find their bridesmaid / maid of honor gowns. I already have THE gown (see the gown below) in mind. I was trying to find a similar style there but didn't find one that's close.

I think I tried on one gown, just for fun, because the girls made me.. Nothing extraordinary. I walked out empty handed. With my heart set on the gown above and no luck finding a similar style anywhere, I knew what I need to get done: have the gown custom made in the Philippines. This is my gown. But when I received the price quote to copy the gown ... I was shocked. There's no way I would spend $2,000 on my gown. It's just way out of the budget. My heart sunk in disappointment. I need to find another gown. Now.
The girls and I went back to David's Bridal to find my gown. It didn't take long for me to set my eyes on the One. I tried on two styles. The first one I tried on was a halter piece. I really didn't feel like wearing a strapless gown. I felt that its become the standard wedding gown and I wanted to go against the "what is".
I fell inlove with it instantly. I like the halter piece and the Aline cut. It's almost similar to my original choice, minus the cloudy bottom. The girls wanted me to try on a second gown to give me an option.

The girls loved this one more than the first. It has more details and a longer train. I loved the way it hugged my body and made me look skinny! LoL. I wasn't so sure about the strapless. I guess I just have my eyes set on a halter piece from the beginning. I kept going back and forth between halter and strapless. I tried on the halter once again and slipped this one back on too, just to see the difference. Even put on the veil for each. But on the second try, I became attached to the strapless gown. I just knew that it is the one!
And ladies, that's how I picked my gown!
