WoW Hacked!

My WoW account was hacked. I received an email from Blizzard letting me know of a password change on my account. I didn't change the password. I couldn't have. I was on vacation, away from the computer. A few hours later, the person has merged my account with his account.. making it possible for him to do whatever he pleases.

I called billing support as soon as I got the chance to. Sadly, the office was closed on the weekend. I really didn't feel like waiting until the next day to fix this. This person could get a hold of my credit card information, my address, etc. I was in panic mode.

To make the long agonizing story short, I spoke with Blizzard this morning and they were able to give me my account back. He said that maybe I have spyware or trojan on my computer. I explained to him that's not possible. I use a MAC, not a PC. I wasn't convinced that my MAC could be infected. I researched on the possibilities of account hacking.. Gas Bandit advices not to browse Alkazham, Curse Gaming, or Thotbot while you're playing and to double check that the mods you download are real. Better yet, don't browse these sites on the same comp you play on. (http://gasbandit.blogspot.com/2008/02/my-world-of-warcraft-account-got-hacked.html)

As soon as I got home, I checked to see what the hacker stole from me. Unfortunately, he stripped my toons dry. Took most of my items, weapons, gems, bags, and money. This person left most of my toons naked. *sad* I really feel so violated. The hacker even deleted some of my toons. I don't know why he / she would do that. It wasn't enough that he stole from me (and from the guild.. he took money & items from the guild bank as well)... he had to delete my toons for no apparent reason. No heart. Hmph!

The good news (I hope) is I can get most, if not all, of the stuff back. I just need to let the GM know. It supposedly takes at least 5 days. Maybe longer.

I'm now waiting to hear back from the GM.... hopefully sometime tonight! I hate waiting.
