US Open
I had the privileged of attending the US Open Opening Night for the first time. I've been to the Open before but have never really seen anyone "worth" the money. I mean, the free tickets I got from the in-laws.
I saw famous athletes that I only got to watch on tv: Mia Hamm, Doug Flutie, David Robinson, and Andre Agassi who were being honored for their generous efforts to give back to the community thru their Charitable organizations. Rob Thomas performed. Robin Roberts hosted the program. Mayor Bloomberg was also present and gave a speech. It was a star studded night. Christie Brinkley was even spotted there. I was so excited... like a little kid who was just given ice cream. I've never seen so many famous people before in one night. Actually, I've never really seen anyone famous. and I live in New York. It's quite sad. The only famous person I saw was Denzel Washington when he was filming Training Day in California. I can't even put it in the same category as "seen" because we were just driving by and had a quick glimpse of him. Heck, maybe it wasn't even Denzel. Maybe it was his double.
But the highlight of my night was seeing Venus Williams and Andy Roddick take on the court. Unfortunately, I didn't bring my camera so I settled for iphone shots. I won't post those because they're not worth sharing... you couldn't even see any of their faces, it's like trying to spot a person on the street from the top of the Empire State Building. You don't believe me? Here's the proof:
Told you so. Can you spot Venus Williams in that pic? She's the one on the right in hot pink.
Anyway, what a fun filled experience! Now, I wish the in-laws would invite us to the finals. :-)
And I will make sure to bring my SLR camera.
