The reasony why I was prompted to write an entry is because in our school, there is a newspaper stand strategically located infront of the libraby where students can freely take a newspaper, either The New York Times or the school paper, or both. I observed that towards the end of the day a big chunk of both newspapers are still untouched.
Because there was a big pile of New York Times in front of me chanting my name "chetz!" "chetz!" "chetz!", I felt the need to grab a copy. It sounded like a call for grandiosity, for greater knowledge. Or maybe I was still high from Spartacus: Gods of the Arena's last episode (SPOILER ALERT) when the people of Capua were chanting "Gannicus!" "Gannicus!" "Gannicus!" right after he won the very first tournament in the newly built arena and was granted freedom. *teary eyes* It was a moment of grandeur and nobility.
Back to the topic, I took a copy of the New York Times every day that I was in school last week. That's a total of 4. None of which I've read. Out of 4 newspapers, I've read 0. zilch. nada. So I guess that's the reason why no one was taking a newspaper... because it won't be read.
I remember a few years ago they were handing out free Metro newspaper all over the city. The people who were handing out the newspaper were up in your face, almost forcing you to grab one. I usually did especially if he were a senior. What can I say, I'm a sucker for the elderly. Then I threw it in the garbage full of the same newspaper at the corner street.
Maybe people are moving to digital news reading. I'm all for it. It's greener: less paper, less trees suffering.
Go green!

I am a big fan of getting all the news via Twitter. It's much quicker than browsing through paper! But at work we have 1 copy of Globe & Mail in the lunch room. So I guess we're not 100% converted to paperless... yet.
