The Tourist

With Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp's big names in Hollywood and blockbuster success, I expected The Tourist to capture my heart and be at the edge of my seat. It failed to do so, but I still enjoyed the film because of my admiration for both actors.

Angelina Jolie usually portrays a strong woman who kicks plenty of butts in her films, just like in her recent role as Russian sleeper agent Evelyn Salt.  So I assumed the same with the Tourist where she played Elise, an elegant and mysterious woman consistently dressed in chic attire and walked like a goddess in 6-inch heels.

Johnny Depp stepped out of his usual wacky role and became your average Joe.  He played Frank, a math teacher who lost his wife, on vacation in Italy to mend his grief.  He's always successful in making me believe in the character he's in.

The movie had a few action scenes, deceit, and a boat chase.  It even had a twist ending which, sadly, left me confused as opposed to being wowed.   I think the concept of The Tourist is great but it wasn't enough.. something was missing. I'm not an expert movie critic so I can't exactly pinpoint where the movie went wrong.  However, in my opinion, the love story between Frank and Elise wasn't emphasized enough to melt my heart.  And their sexual attraction was a little lame. Come on, no sex scene with the two yummiest and sexiest people in hollywood?  Not even a hint of sex was implied.

I love Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. I was a bit disappointed with the film.  I expected more  considering their A list actors. They both played their roles right.  It's how the movie was told that went astray.  I felt that more could've been done with the story line (and action scenes!) instead of just showcasing the beauty of Venice.  But hey, I enjoyed it anyway.

  1. This movie is on my list. Will blog about it after I've seen it. But I heard the same thing you said - boring daw?

  2. Angelina looks gorgeous in this movie. I love how she rocked bangs and her makeup, of course. :) I've seen trailers of it, but haven't seen the actual movie.

Yup, one or a couple pairs of jeggings are a consideration. They are so comfy and they look great. Plus, I really love the selection of styles and colors too. They look great with almost any type of shoe too. :D
