Living in the big apple

A week or two ago, my neighborhood lost power due to a fire on one of the transformers on my block. One fire fighter truck came to our aid after 20 minutes of a first phone call. To make the long story short, after putting out the fire, we lost electricity for a few hours in a 93 degree weather. It happened late in the evening when we were getting ready to go to bed. It was a horror trying to sleep in that kind of humidity.

Last week, there was a steam pipe explosion right next to my building at work. Luckily for me, i left early that day to go see my daddy at the hospital, otherwise, i would've been caught in the traumatic event... A lot of my coworkers described the incident a 9-11 clone. They thought a building collapsed. Our office was closed for 4 days and i had to work at a different location.

Last year, there was a subway strike that lasted for quite a few days. i walked all the way home from work. It was also last year when my neighborhood experienced a power outage.

Some years ago, there was a black out. i walked home as well. And of course, who could forget 9-11...

Those are just the major things i've experienced... not including the constant threats, fare hikes, costly standard of living, and the stress.... of living in the big apple.
